My metronome is broken

i've had it for years.
i probably should have
used it more than i did.

i wonder how many times it
has made that noise
halfway between
a beep
and
a click.

thousands
at least.

i tried putting in
new batteries but it
still won't work.

there are probably many
profound ways
to end a poem about
a broken metronome;

something about
hearts or

i don't know.

oh
it just started
back up.

it must be in denial
still.
